What Is a Sleep Apnea Risk Quiz?

A sleep apnea risk quiz is a quick questionnaire that helps you to find whether your symptoms line up with common warning signs of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) which is a condition that causes your breathing to stop and start while you sleep.

The quiz asks about common signs and risk factors, such as:

  • Loud or frequent snoring
  • Feeling tired during the day
  • Pauses in breathing during sleep
  • High blood pressure
  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Age, neck size, and sex

While this quiz cannot diagnose sleep apnea, it can help you decide if you should talk to your healthcare provider or consider a home sleep test.

Sleep apnea is very common but many people don't realize it and even some don't know they have it. They think it's normal exhaustion that is part of their busy life. It's easy to mistake symptoms like loud snoring, poor sleep, or daytime tiredness as normal but they could be signs of a sleep disorder. But if it is left untreated, it's been linked to higher risks of high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and persistent daytime fatigue that affects everything from mood to driving safety.

But a quiz can help you understand your risk. It can't replace a clinical diagnosis but it can do something equally valuable. If your results suggest you may be at risk, a home sleep test can provide the answers you need and help you take the next step toward better sleep and better health.

This quiz is for anyone who thinks they have signs of sleep apnea. It may be helpful if you:

  • Snore loudly or regularly
  • Wake up gasping or struggling to breathe
  • Feel tired even after a full night's sleep
  • Have trouble staying awake or focused during the day
  • Have high blood pressure or are overweight
  • Have been told you stop breathing while you sleep

You don't need a referral or a previous sleep study to take this quiz. It's a simple first step to help you decide if you should speak with your healthcare provider or consider a home sleep test.

No. This quiz is only a screening tool that helps you understand your risk of sleep apnea based on your symptoms and common risk factors. It provides a low, moderate, or high-risk result in just a few minutes.

A sleep apnea diagnosis can only be made through a clinical evaluation, such as a home sleep test reviewed by a board-certified sleep physician. If your quiz results show a higher risk, the next step is to talk to your healthcare provider or consider a home sleep test for a confirmed diagnosis.

You can take this quiz without providing your name, email address, or phone number. Your answers are used only to calculate your sleep apnea risk and are handled using OakMedCare's secure, HIPAA-compliant privacy standards.

If you decide to order a home sleep test after completing the quiz, you'll do so through a separate, secure process. Taking the quiz does not require you to order a test.

How the Quiz Works

This quiz asks a series of simple Yes/No questions about common sleep apnea symptoms and risk factors, such as snoring, daytime tiredness, breathing pauses during sleep, high blood pressure, age, and weight.

Each question appears one at a time, making the quiz quick and easy to complete. Based on your answers, you’ll receive a low, moderate, or high-risk result in just a few minutes.

Understanding Your Score

0–2 – Yes Answers – Low Risk

Your answers do not suggest a high risk of sleep apnea. Continue practicing healthy sleep habits and take the quiz again if you develop new symptoms.

5 or More – Yes Answers – High Risk

Your answers indicate a higher risk of sleep apnea. We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider and scheduling a home sleep test for a proper evaluation.

Important Note:

Some risk factors, such as being male, having a BMI of 35 or higher, or a neck size greater than 16 inches, can increase your risk of sleep apnea. Even with fewer Yes answers, these factors can place you in a higher-risk category. Only a home sleep test reviewed by a sleep physician can confirm a diagnosis.

What To Do Next, Based On Your Score

Low Risk

Your answers suggest a low risk of sleep apnea. Keep practicing healthy sleep habits and monitor your symptoms over time.

High Risk

Your answers suggest a higher risk of sleep apnea. We recommend scheduling a home sleep test and discussing your results with a sleep physician to receive an accurate diagnosis and the right treatment plan.
